1.  Juliana de Vitre.  New Name and Device.  Vert, in bend a maple leaf and a candlestick and candle enflamed within a bordure argent.

(Caer Galen) Gender: Female. Submitter cares most about the sound and language/culture of the name.  Submitter will not accept Major changes to the name, but desires authenticity for 13th C. France.

[Juliana] - Academy of St Gabriel report 3009 (http://www.panix.com/~gabriel/public-bin/showfinal.cgi/3009.txt) dates this name to the 12th Century France.

[de Vitri] - "Name from the 1292 Census of Paris" by Sara L. Uckelman (http://www.ellipsis.cx/~liana/names/french/1292paris.pdf), p. 103,  lists the name as a locative byname: "de Vitri (19) loc. from any of various places named Vitry, Vitré, Vitrai, Vitrai, Vitrey, etc."

2.  Raes Marie Augustine. New Name.

(Caerthe) Gender: Female.  Submitter cares most about the language/culture of the name, defined as 14th C. Flemish.  Changes accepted.

[Raes] - "Flemish Names from Bruges" by Luana de Grood (Loveday Toddekyn) located at http://www.s-gabriel.org/docs/bruges states [Raes] is a given name dated to 1400-1550.

[Marie] - "Flemish Names from Bruges" by Luana de Grood (Loveday Toddekyn) located at http://www.s-gabriel.org/docs/bruges states [Marie] is a given name dated to 1400-1550.

[Augustine] - "Flemish Names from Bruges" by Luana de Grood (Loveday Toddekyn) located at http://www.s-gabriel.org/docs/bruges states [van den Augustine] is a by-name name dated to 1400-1550.

3.  Salomea Thorunska. Device Resubmission (Laurel). Per pale argent and sable, 3 bats counterchanged within a bordure engrailed gules and sable.

(al-Barran)  Submitter's name was registered on the February 2009 LoAR (http://heraldry.sca.org/loar/2009/02/09-02lar.html).

Submitter's previous device submission, Argent, a chevron engrailed gules between three bats sable within a bordure engrailed gules, was returned on the same letter, stating : "This device is returned for violation of section VII.7.a of the Rules for Submission, which says that "Elements must be recognizable solely from their appearance." Too many commenters saw this as bats on clouds; under one in five of those shown the emblazon could provide an accurate blazon, even after studying it for many minutes."

This device is a complete redesign.

4.  Sebastiaen D'Bastoen.  New Name and Device.  Quarterly Sable and Gules, a fleur-de-lis Or, a bordure embattled counterchanged.

(Caerthe) Gender: Male. Submitter cares most about the language/culture of the name, defined as 14th C. Flemish.  Changes accepted.

[Sebastiaen] - "Flemish Names from Bruges" by Luana de Grood (Loveday Toddekyn) located at http://www.s-gabriel.org/docs/bruges states [Sebastiaen] is a given name dated to 1400-1550, and specifically 1573.

[Bastoen] - "Flemish Names from Bruges" by Luana de Grood (Loveday Toddekyn) located at http://www.s-gabriel.org/docs/bruges states [Bastoen] is a by-name dated to 1573.

Thus ends the February 2010 Letter of Presentation.
