Unto Marie de Blois, White Stag Principal Herald and the Outlands College of Heralds, does Æðeluulf munuc, Rampart Herald, send well wishes this day. I write you concerning the June Letter of Response for the Kingdom of the Outlands.

I wish to thank the following people for assisting on commentary for this letter, being: Gawain of Miskbridge, Green Anchor and the Calontir commentary group; Llwyus ap Alan, Wharrow Herald; Ursula Georges, Loyall Pursevant; Francesca, Castle Herald; Omar, Palmer Herald.

The following items have been sent to Laurel for final determination:

  1. Anne Aliz de Bâle. New Alternate Name. Cecilia de Courcy.
  2. Eleanor Grey of West Riding. New Alternate Name. (See RETURNS for the primary name/device)
  3. Fiore Leonetta Bardi. New Name.
  4. Hayashi Ryôichiro Katanori. New Name. (See RETURNS for the device)
  5. Llwyus ap Alan. New Badge. Argent, a natural panther sejant within in annulo six candles enflamed sable.
  6. Mari Sol. New Name Change. Maria Sol de Leon, to be retained.
  7. Pádraig Ó Súileabháin. New Device. Gules, a sinister hand apaumy Or within a bordure embattled argent.
  8. Soerlaidh inghean Robeard. New Name & Device. Vert, on a bend between two unicorns rampant combatant argent, three trefoils slipped palewise vert. Changed from Sáerlaith inghean Roibeárd to based on supporting documentation.
  9. Síle inghean Duíbh Darach. New Device. Or, on a heart gules a rose slipped and leavede bendwise Or.
  10. Violante d'Atayde. New Name Change, New Device & New Badge. Merlyn Vollarc, to be released. Gules, a chevron rayonny Or (device). (Fieldless), a gynosphinx rampart coutourny Or maintaning a mullet gules (badge).

The following items were returned for rework:

  1. Fatimah bint Omar al-Esfahani. New Device. Per pale embattled gules and Or, a semy of crosses pattees and a semy of crescents counterchanged.
The device was considered to be too busy with the 'cut from the cloth' placement of the strewn charges. The client is advised to redraw the device with fewer charges, and display them fully, rather than cutting them off in the line division or edges of the device. Return for redraw.
  2. Hayashi Ryôichiro Katanori. New Device.Argent, within a hexagon voided two pine trees azure.
The client submitted a mon, but was using charges that were not identifiable as japanese pine trees. I suggest the client take a look at the 'matsu' mon-element, which is the stylised Japanese representation of pine-trees. Return for Redraw.
  3. Rab Wylkyn. Device resubmission. Per bend sinister sable and gules, a bend sinister argent between an eye and a rose slipped and leaved bendwise sinister Or.
The client has not fully addressed the reason for the last return. The client is urged to use a european-style of eye for the device, as this eye is rendered in a stylisted manner that does not lend itself to easy identifiablity. Return for redraw.
  4. Shoshanna Simcha bat Reuven. New name.
Using the client's docuentation for the element Shoshanna, I was unable to find a suitable spelling; all of my dated documentation spelled the element Shushananah, which I considered a major change. Return for Rework.

The following items were pended for further consideration by the College of Heralds

  1. Fatimah bint Omar al-Esfahani. New Name.
The client requested no major changes, however, in order to make all of the elements agree with a single languages (persian or arabic) a sufficient number of minor changes were made to cause a major change to count. Due to time constraints, Rampart was unable to contact the submitter to approve the changes and this will be pended to the July letter.

This ends the June Letter of Response, dated this Ninteenth day of June in the year of grace Two Thousand and Eight, being the forty-third year of the Society, and the celebration Saint Gervase. I remain in service to Crown and Laurel Sovereign.
