Unto Marie de Blois, White Stag Principal Herald and the Outlands College of Heralds, does Æðeluulf Munec, Rampart Herald, send well wishes this day. I write you concerning the December Letter of Response for the Kingdom of the Outlands.

I wish to thank the following people for assisting on commentary for this letter, being: Llywus ap Alan, Wharrow; Gawain of Miskbridge, Green Anchor; and Kiara Loftus, Scalene.

The following items have been sent to Laurel for final determination:

  1. A'isha al-Naysaburiya - Name change from A'isha bint Asad ud Din. The submitters' current name was registered April 1999; The client would like to retain the original name as an alternate.
  2. Alys Bouchard - New Name
  3. Eoin Mór mac Aonghuis - New Name and Device. Or, a boar rampant gules and a chief embattled azure.
  4. Miguel Alejandro de las Corrientes - New Name and Device. Per bend sinister gules and azure, a bend sinister wavy argent.
  5. Ravenhyrst, Canton of - New Name. The incipient Canton has attached petitions signed by four of the five seated officers, plus the seated Baroness of Caerthe (their parent group).

The following items were returned for rework:

  1. Dreyfuss K'ravyn McKillin - New Name and Device Per fess rayonny Or and vert, in pale a seven-pointed mullet sable and a wolf rampant argent..
The name return is first and foremost for the undocumented element [K'ravyn]. Secondly, the name is returned for using a surname as a given name, and thirdly the name is returned for using poor documentation (geneology websites are insufficiently documented, as we rely upon primary sources, while genaology most resources are secondary resources at best). Returned for work.
There were no conflicts found at this time for the device, but unfortunately it must be returned for lack of a name to send it up with, as holding names are not created at a Kingdom Level.
  2. Nicholas Fenix - New device. Per chevron rayonny sable and Or, in chief a phoenix rising Or.
The phoenix in this device is far too small to be a secondary charge. If the line of division was shallower and lower (as the line of division is technically halfway between the tips of the Rays) this would provide more space for a larger charge. Also, moving the charge below the line of division would provide more space. Returned for Redraw.

The Rampart office is continuing its investigation of Electronic notificiation for submissions, and is seeking input regarding this. Please send all suggestions and commentary regarding this new Laurel policy directly to myself at rampart@outlandsheralds.org. Also, it has come to my attention that in the process of the Scanning Project to electrify the Laurel Files, Highlighting sources effectively blacks out the line on the scanners. Please refrain from using highlighter on your photocopies, instead use black or blue pen to underline the important passages (if they are not immediately apparent) and make notes in the margins for further clarificiation.

This ends the December Letter of Response, dated this Twenty-Forth day of December in the year of grace Two Thousand and Seven, being the forty-second year of the Society, being the Eve of Christmas. I remain in service to Crown and Laurel Sovereign.
