Unto Marie de Blois, White Stag Principal Herald, and the College of Heralds of the Kingdom of the Outlands, does Æðeluulf munuc, Rampart Herald send his greetings. I write you this day concerting the Letter of Response for March 2009CE.
I would like to thank whole-heartedly the following heralds for providing commentary: Aryanhwy merch Catmael; Gawain of Miskbridge, Green Anchor Herald; Rohese de Dinan, Red Hawk Herald; Francesca di Pavia, Ray de Soleil Pursuivant; Eíbhlín inghean Fhearghusa; Isabel Benet
Rampart wishes to send a reminder to all of the branch heralds to please ensure that the proper number of copies are sent to Castle for each submission; this includes copies of documentation that are not on Appendix H. Additionally, all branch heralds are encouraged to ensure that the summary of documentation is properly completed on the name forms; administrative returns are common at the Laurel level for incorrectly-filled out forms, and if Rampart is rushed to get the letter out the door, he may not have the time to correct this omission.
The following items were forwarded to Laurel Soverign for final determination:
- Ayla Knobloch. Change of Name and Device. Per bend sinister purpure and azure, on a bend sinister wavy gules fimbriated a garlic bulb argent. Old items (Aimara Baratzuri, Checky argent and purpure, a heart gules on a chief double-arched sable an ankh argent) to be retained as alternates.
- Caerthe, Barony of. Acceptance of Transfer of Heraldic Title. Aspen Pursuivant
Outlands, Kingdom of. Transfer of Heraldic Title. Aspen Pursuivant - Caerthe, Barony of. New Order Name. Order of the Cordon of Honor
- Dauid of the Isles. New Name (See RETURNS for device)
- Domin d'Alsace. New Device. Quarterly vert and gules a branch issuant from a stump snagged Or. (changed from Quarterly vert and gules a sapling issuant from a stump snagged Or, we do not register diminutives)
- Llywus ap Alan. Badge Resubmission. (Fieldless) a candle enflamed in a candleholder Or sustained by a natural panther sejant sable.
- Michelet Chauveau. New Name (See PENDS for device).
- Tómas Teárlach Fraser. New Badge. Argent, a sealion erect to sinister reguardant gules.
- William Stuart. New Name (See PENDS for device)
- Wolfhram St. James. Device Resubmission. Sable, an eye argent irised azure, surmounted by a sword inverted Or.
The following items were returned for further work:
- Dauid of the Isles. Or, a lymphad sable sailed gules, a point pointed ployé azure.
It was raised in commentary that the mundane "Lord of the Isles", a British title held by the Duke of Rothsay (the Heir-Apparent of to the Throne of Scotland, currently HRH The Prince Charles) uses a sable lymphad in it's arms, and this charge, combined with the surname "of the Isles" could be considered presumptious, thereby falling afoul of RfS XI.2 "Armory that asserts a strong claim of identity in the context of the submitters name is considered presumptuous."
The following items were pended until the next available Letter of Intent. They require no further input from the College or the Submitter:
- Michelet Chauveau. Device Resubmission. Purpure, a horse rampant Or a semy of mullets sable.
This devices has been recoloured at a kingdom level, and copies returned to the local herald. The recolouring process was not completed in time to make the March Letter, but will be the first things placed on the April Letter of Intent - William Stuart. Device Resubmission. Gules, an eagle displayed within a bordure Or semy of crescents sable.
This devices has been recoloured at a kingdom level, and copies returned to the local herald. The recolouring process was not completed in time to make the March Letter, but will be the first things placed on the April Letter of Intent
Inscribed this XXXI day of March, in the year of grace MMIX, being the XLIII year of the Society, upon the occassion of the feast of Saint Benjamin the Deacon.
