From your Æðeluulf, find these words addressed to
Marie, White Stag Principal Herald. It is the hope that well
wishes find all upon this day. I apologise to one and all for the
delay in getting the following letter out the door, and would
like to thank whole-heartedly the following heralds for providing
commentary:
Rohese de Dinan, Shadowdale Pursuivant; Thomas of
Shrewsbury; Gawain of Miskbridge, Green Anchor Herald; Kieran
Blake; Marie de Blois, Herald Extraordinary; Randal Carrick,
Castle Herald; Furukusu Masahide, Aspen Pursuivant; Francesca di
Pavia, Ray de Soleil Pursuivant; Asta Olafsdottir; Leonor Ruiz de
Lison; Violante d'Atayde; Cadan of Mons Tonitrus; Eadaoin;
Eíbhlín inghean Fhearghusa; Llywus ap Alan, Wharrow
Herald;
The following items have been sent to Laurel for final
determination:
- Adam Mathyson. New Name. (See RETURNS for
Device)
- Alrik Boleslavov. Device Resubmission.
Per chevron sable and argent, two lions combattant and a tree
blasted and eradicated within a bordure counterchanged.
- Christopher Devereux. New Name Change. (from
Kieran Blake, retained as alternate)
- Clare de Chepyng Campedene. New Name.
- Gwenhevare Lepard. New Name. (See RETURNS
for Device)
- Leonor Ruiz de Lisón. New Name &
Device. Or, a bend sable between four pomegranates gules,
slipped and leaved vert, seeded Or.
- Magge Magnus. New Name. (See RETURNS for
Device)
- Meliore Gimigna Fioravanti. New Name Change.
(from Ysabeau Anais Roussot du Lioncourt, retained)
- Milesha Kulikova. New Name.
- Salomea Toruńska. New Name &
Device. Argent, a chevron engrailed gules between three bats
sable within a bordure engrailed gules.
The following items were returned for further work:
- Adam Mathyson. New Device. Gules, a bend
sable fimbriated, in chief a bear pawprint argent.
Returned for conflict with Trinidad and Tobago, Gules, a bend sable
fimbriated argent. There is only one CD for the addition of the
secondary pawprint.
- Gwenhevare Lepard. New Device. Argent, a
dianthus flower seeded proper and chief engrailed
purpure.
This is returned for redraw; the main charge should
be termed a "gilllyflower" and is coloured gules by default; pink is
neither purpure nor gules and is not a heraldic tincture, and cannot be
registered as such.
- Magge Magnus. New Device. Purpure, on a
bend or three butterflies bend-sinisterwise purpure, between two
hummingbirds reversed Or.
Returned for redraw; all of the
elements were much too small to be identified as such. With a wider
bend, there would be more room for the butterflies; finally, the
charges indicated to be hummingbirds were not easily identified as such,
and would best be redefined as just 'birds'.
- Nathaniel Hayes. Device Resubmission.
Per chevron or and argent, a grenade sable enflamed
gules.
Returned for Conflict; Rampart apologises profusely
for not catching this conflict the last time 'round. This resbumission
addresses the re-draw request, but it is still in conflict with US
Army Ordinance Corp, A grenade sable. There is only a single
difference granted for addtion of a field, as the change in tincture of
the flame is not a significant enough change to clear conflict. For
reference, the Febuary 2008CE Cover Letter defined a 'grenade proper' as
"sable, enflamed proper, that is, sable with alternating gules
and Or tongues of flame."
- Robert Magnus. New Device. Or, a
raptor's foot couped gules, taloned sable, a chief dovetailed and
on a champagne sable a mullet of four greater and four lesser
points Or.
Returned for Redraw; this does not show a very
good depiction of 'dovetailed', as the traits are not evenly spaced or
matched in size. Additionally, the charge 'champagne' has never been
registered before. In Fox-Davies' "A Complete Guide to Heraldry", it
says "In foreign heraldry the base of the quartered shield is not
infrequently cut off by a horizontal line, forming what is known as a
Champagne, and the space thus made is occupied by one or more coats."
As this charge has a curved top, this does not support the use of the
charge, nor does the documentation date the charge.
Inscibed by Rampart Herald upon the feast of Saint Marcellus
the Centurion, being the XXX of October in the XLIII year of the
society, being the year of grace MMVIII.
