1. Ambroius von Beck. New
badge. Bendy gules and Or, a
double-headed eagle displayed checky ermine and sable estoily Or.
(Nahrun Kabirun)
2. Eoin Roy. Name and device
resubmission. Argent, a wolf sable
and a stag gules combatant.
(St. Golias) Gender: Male.
Submitter cares most about the language/culture of the name, defined as
Lowland Scotland. Changes accepted.
The previous submission, Eoin Kerr,
was returned on the March 2007
LoAR: "Aural conflict with Eoin Cerd, registered August
1996. The only difference in sound is the consonant at the end of the
byname." The new submission changes the byname completely.
Eoin: http://www.MedievalScotland.org/problem/names/iain.shtml
(Arval Benicoeur): "Eoin persisted in Scotland well past 1600 as the
standard Gaelic form of John."
Roy: Black, Surnames of Scotland, header Roy - dated in this spelling
to the reign of James II [which is
post-period-Castle], and also in 1563.
The previous device submission, Or, a wolf sable and a stag gules
combatant, was returned on the September
2006 Outlands Letter of Response: "Conflict with [Conrad
Stronghand] - August 2002: {Or, a wolf counter-salient sable,
maintaining in its mouth a rose gules, barbed and seeded
proper.}Commenters note that changing the field to argent appears to
clear it of all conflicts. Commenters also note that the beasts should
be drawn larger to fill more of the field, and the addition of some
internal detailing would assist with identifiability (an issue that
could potentially cause a return). The current submission makes the
suggested change to the field.
Thus ends the August 2008
Letter of
Presentation.
Your servant,
Francesca di Pavia
