Unto Elisabeth de Rossingol, Laurel Queen of Arms, Margaret MacDuibhshithe, Pelican Queen of Arms, Jean Marie Lacroix, Wreath Queen of Arms, and the College of Arms, upon this 27th day of April 2007, A.S. XLI, does Furukusu Masahide, Rampart Herald, send greetings.
Unless otherwise noted, submitters accept all changes, desire a name with the common sense gender, and have no requests for authenticity. My deepest gratitude to those who took time to send internal commentary: Aethelwulf, Cnut, Gwain of Miskbridge (Green Anchor Herald), Ines Alfon (Saker Herald), Lyonnete du Soleil, Marie de Blois (White Stag), Modar Neznanich (Volk Herald), and Pipa Sparkes (Axed Root Pursuivant).

It is our intent to register the following items:
Gender: Male. The submitter cares most about the language/culture of the name, stated as Irish Gaelic. No major changes accepted.
The original name was registered in March 1998.
_Annals of the Four Masters, vol II_ (http://www.ucc.ie/research/celt/publishd.html), M974.5, p. 702 (untranslated:): "Domhnall, mac Conghalaigh, tigherna Bregh, d'écc. As dó bo h-ainm Triubhus Fliuch." (Domhnall, son of Conghalach, lord of Breagha, died; he was named Triubhus Fliuch.). _Annals of the Four Masters, vol II_ (http://www.ucc.ie/research/celt/publishd.html), M1016.10, p. 791 (untranslated): "Dondchadh, mac Donncadha Uí Conghalaigh, ríoghdhamhna Ereand, do mharbhadh lá Feraibh Bregh buddhéin." (Donnchadh, son of Donnchadh Ua Conghalaigh, lord of Breagha, and royal heir of Ireland, was slain by the men of Breagha themselves.)
Rampart feels that the included documentation is unhelpful at best, and generally unneeded. Rampart notes that the only change to the name is for [Ó] to be changed to [mac], with all other name elements being subject to the Grandfather Clause.
[mac]: "Names and Naming Practices in the Red Book of Ormond (Ireland 14th Century) " by Tangwystyl verch Morgant Glasvryn located at http://www.sca.org/heraldry/laurel/names/lateirish/ormond-patterns.html#Patterns documents the use of a [given-name] [mac] [given-name] construction in at least 45 of the 100 Irish examples (It is interesting to note that a [Ó] construction is shown in 49 cases.)
This name is submitted on this Letter.
No major changes accepted.
The household name fits the Inn name/sign pattern for household names.
Commenters felt that the dagger and arrow may be sufficiently narrow and of an unstandard form to make them potentially unidentifiable, and possibly a violation of Rfs VIII.3 - Armorial Identifiability.
Blazon changed from [Per pale vert and purpure, a dagger and an arrow inverted chevronwise argent] to [Per pale vert and purpure, a dagger and an arrow inverted in chevron argent] to properly describe the arrangement of the charges.
The name appears on the October 2006 Letter of Intent from the Outlands.
Considerable comment was directed at the placement of the charges on the field. While it may be preferred to have the charges either lowered on the field, or elongated to fill the lower portions of the field better, Rampart did not feel that this issue necessitated a return and redraw based on recent LoAR decisions for similar issues.
Blazon changed from [Per saltire sable and purpure, a dragon and tiger combatant argent] to [Per saltire sable and purpure, a dragon and tyger combatant argent] to correct the spelling of the beast.
Gender: Female. No major changes accepted.
[Kimberly]: the submitter provides a copy of her driver's license as evidence that this is her legal given name, and thus qualifies under Rfs. II.4, the "legal name allowance".
The client provided a large number of photocopies regarding the name [Blackwood], but no summary. Most of the documentation provided did not address [Blackwood] as a surname, but instead as a byname. Commenters were gracious to provide a citation from a non-photocopy source.
[Blackwood]: _The Surnames of Scotland_ by Black indicates that [Adam Blackwood] was a privy councilor of Mary, Queen of Scots.
One Commenter felt that the chevron may not be "acute/steep" enough.
A letter of permission to conflict from the submitter's husband, Christopher Blackwood [Erminois, a chevron gules between two trees and a demi-sun issuant from base sable] (name and device registered March 1993) is included.
The name was registered in May 2005.
Blazon changed from [Per pale azure and vert all lozengy, a pale Or] to [Per pale azure and vert, a pale and semy of lozenges Or] to properly describe the lozenges.
Gender: Female. No changes accepted.
The existing name was registered in March 1998. If the new name is registered, the submitter wishes to retain the former name as an alternate.
[Matilda]: "Feminine Given Names in A Dictionary of English Surnames" by Brian M. Scott (SCA Talan Gwynek, Fause Lozenge Herald Extraordinary) (http://www.sca.org/heraldry/laurel/reaneyintro.html) gives numerous instances of this name dated 1140-1489. Famous historical example: Matilda, Queen of England (1102-1167), daughter of Henry I.
[de Seton]: Black, The Surnames of Scotland, pg 719. "Alexander de Seton witnessed a confirmation charter by Alexander II to the Abbey of Kinloss, 1225" (REM., p. 459).
Gender: Male. No major changes accepted.
[Robert]: _The Concise Dictionary of English Christian Names_ by Withycombe, 3rd ed.(1976), hardcover, pg 254, header [Robert] - "Old English Hreodbeorht was reinforced at the time of the Norman Conquest from the cognate Old German Hrodebert, a compound of hrothi 'fame' and bertha 'bright'. It occurs frequently in the Domesday Book, and has been a favourite name ever since."
[Magnus]: _English Surnames_ by Reaney & Wilson, 3rd ed. 1995, paperback pg 294, header [Magnus] - "Hugh Magnus c1114 Burton (St)"
Thus ends my Letter of Intent.
In service and duty,
Furukusu Masahide
