Unto the esteemed Elisabeth de Rossingol, Laurel Queen of Arms, Margaret MacDuibhshithe, Pelican Queen of Arms, Jean Marie Lacroix, Wreath Queen of Arms, and the College of Arms of the Society for Creative Anachronisim, does Æðeluulf Munec, Rampart Herald, send well wishes this day. I write you concerning the February Letter of Intent for the Kingdom of the Outlands. It is our intent to register the following items:

  1. Caerthe, Barony of - Resub Order Name Order of Evan

This branch-name was registered in January 1973. If registered, this order name should be associated with the badge Or, a dragon passant gules and a chief embattled sable, registered in November 2005.

This order is named in honour of Evan Mawr (Atenveldt, 12/82)2, and is intended to follow the meta-pattern "Orders whose name contains the given name of their founder or the secular person for whom the order is named", as described in the August 2005 Cover Letter.

Previously submitted as "Order of the Sojourners of Evan Mawr", this item was returned in April 20051 for lack of documentation and for using a construction pattern not found in period Order Names. This resubmission addresses this by dropping elements so that what remains is a "given name of .. the secular person for whom the order is named".

[Evan]: Gwynek, Talan. Late Sixteenth Century English Given Names (1999). "The following 14 names occurred 3 times each, making 0.70% of the total: ... Evan"3

Blazoned on the LoP as "Per bend argent and purpure, a bend counterchanged, and in bend three trefoils vert", an extraneous comma after "counterchanged" was dropped for simplicity.
  4. Mari the Far Travelled - Resub Device

  6. Omar ibn Haroun al-Askari al-Rumi - Correction of Name Change
The holding name Omar of Dragonsspine was registered in May 2005 with the device Per pale vert and sable, a falcon displayed and in base a sword fesswise argent. In October 2006, the name Omar ibn Haroun al-Askari al-Rumi was registered to the same submitter, but a paperwork gaffe did not mark this as 'change of holding name'. Thus, at this time, the armoury is still registered to the holding name, but should be reassigned to Omar ibn Haroun al-Askari al-Rumi. The holding name Omar of Dragonsspine can be released.
  7. Sorcha inghean Eoin - New Device.

Japanese arrow notches have been registered as recently as the December 2003 LoAR with no comment.

I remain in service this XXVIII day of February, being the leap day of Pope Saint Gregory XIII, in the year of grace MMVIII being the XLII year of the society.
