Unto Angus Reid MacFarlane, White Stag Principal Herald, and the College of Heralds of the Kingdom of the Outlands, does Khalidah bint Yahya'a, Rampart Herald, send her greetings.
What follows is the Letter of Response for July 2016 CE, ruling on the June 2016 Letter of Presentation (http://oscar.sca.org/index.php?action=100&loi=3936).
I would like to thank all of the heralds who were kind enough to provided commentary.

The following items were RETURNED for further work:

Gwenllian MacDonald - New Device. Argent fretty purpure, an oak tree fructed and eradicated Or
Returned for a redraw due to the following precedents: [Or, fretty of a color, a charge argent] There is insufficient contrast between the [charge] and the field which is predominantly Or. (LoAR 29 May 88, p. 25) and [Gules, fretty Or, a charge sable] The sable [charge] on the essentially gules field is colour on colour. (LoAR 29 May 88, p. 26). In this instance, we have insufficent contrast due to metal on metal. Commentors also advise to draw larger frets and a larger tree.
